the jam in question is Sonido himself remixing legendary Peruvian chicha cumbia band, Los Destellos de Enrique Delgado, with vocal assistance by Fefe, a Brazilian firecracker. In one example of how Sonido Martines works, he tracked down Los Destellos, explained to them what was going on in the slippery world of ‘new cumbia’, and with their blessings got permission to flip this remix. Now-thing realness with respect for the foundational musicians!

Hello, I am a young DJ from Greece, mad about cumbia/nueva cumbia stuff. I’ve just bought the sonido martines’ compilation via juno download + the el hijo de la cumbia album. There seems to be something wrong with the martines compilation. It sounds bad…like a low quality mp3 (when it’s actually 320kb) I can’t understand whether is a production thing -this lo-fi sound – or there is something wrong with the mp3 release I bought. The track posted here sounds far more better than any song in the downloaded release. I’ve sent two msgs to juno trying to figure out what the heck is going on but I got no response…I am kind of desperate. I am preparing a massive latin flavoured DJset and this compilation is essential to me. I would be greatful for any info or comments…thanks!

# album isn´t tagged correct… if i put the folder in winamp it starts with first track but then comes 10 to 13 and then comes 2 to 9….that sucks, shame on yu 😉 (or boomkat?)
well and on a sidenote the cover-artwork comes in 300 x 300, i rightclicksaved the pic from dis blog to get a kind of propa cover……a backside with tracks & info doesn´t even exist

we’re trying to figure out what went wrong — we submitted the album as FLAC (lossless high quality mastered full audio) with proper metadata. someone else apparently coded it wrong and/or otherwise messed things up. we’re more annoyed than you are, trust me….
I use ITunes and sound is great.
Definitely is Juno.
where can we get the 12″ ?
